What's Up, Pumpkin? 🎬🎃‼
What's happening at Pumpkin Patch Productions; Speaking at the Women in Film and Television Atlantic Making Waves Conference, Press Coverage, & Screening Party! 🎤✨🥂
It was a busy week for Pumpkin Patch Productions! Amy and I were invited to speak about our show, Good Grief, at the Women in Film and Television Atlantic Making Waves Conference, we did several press interviews about the upcoming season, and we threw a screening party for our cast and crew!
WIFT-AT Making Waves 🌊🎬

We had a lovely time at the Making Waves Conference—it was incredible to have so many women and non-binary folks from the industry together for a weekend to talk business. I feel very grateful to have been asked to speak, and I had a fun time beating my imposter syndrome back with a stick the entire time.
If you're starting out in film and wondering how to get your foot in the door, participating in events like this is a great way to make connections and learn about the industry. Look for local film co-ops in your area and organizations that support people in film. If attending a conference is out of your budget, reach out and ask about opportunities to volunteer—it's a great way to get involved and meet people.
Press 📸🎙️

Amy and I had a great chat with the fine folks at CKDU—our first bit of press for Good Grief organized by Kapha Communications with more press on the way! This is new territory for me—I've done the odd interview here and there for projects I'm involved in, but our upcoming press schedule is more intense than I'm used to. Now, it's nowhere near what Hollywood stars endure for blockbuster films, but for me it's new and exciting! We love talking about our show, so we're always happy to tell whoever will listen about it. More updates to come on the press front soon!
Screening Party! 🎉
With the launch of Good Grief Season 2 on the horizon, we threw a screening party for our cast and crew and invited them back to Good Robot (where we shoot the show) to watch the new season and celebrate everyone's hard work!
It was so fun, and it feels really good to get everyone together again to celebrate. We work so hard to make a project happen, we’re go-go-go on the day, and running off to the next thing once it’s over so it’s nice to bring everyone back to just enjoy the incredible show we made together. Also a little nerve-wracking to sit in the same room and watch everyone watch the show—worrying about whether or not they'll like it! But luckily they did! We had drag artist and actor Anna Mona-Pia hosting, along with comedian and actor Bob Mann MC’ing, and James MacLean snapping photos —a talented group! Can't wait to share more soon!

What to Wear 👗✨
Okay, last thing I want to talk about—something that might seem superficial but is actually quite important: what to wear for press and industry events.
As a plus-size woman in the entertainment industry, wardrobe planning takes significant forethought and strategy. With only a handful of size-inclusive stores in Halifax, I can't simply dash out for a last-minute outfit before an important event. This limited accessibility means I need to plan ahead and be intentional about building a professional wardrobe that reflects both my personal style and industry expectations.
I'm working to strike that perfect balance between professionalism, authenticity, and practicality—especially as I step into more press appearances alongside my incredibly stylish co-creator Amy Trefry. While it feels kind of uncomfortable to admit how much thought goes into my appearance, the reality is that how we present ourselves matters in this industry. Moving forward, I'm focusing on building a thoughtful wardrobe of high-quality, versatile pieces that make me feel confident and camera-ready. No more fast fashion—I'm investing in pieces that truly represent me and will last through multiple press cycles.
All in all a good week in the Pumpkin Patch 🎃✨
